About alstroemeria
Alstroemeria come from South America, which is where the name Peruvian lily comes from, although they aren’t true lilies. Each stem carries several flowers, often with delicate streaks on the inner petals, in colours from white and pink to orange, red, yellow and purple.
How to care for alstroemeria
- Trim the stems and remove leaves below the water line.
- Pull off the remaining leaves as they yellow; the leaves fade before the flowers do.
- Change the water every couple of days.
- Remove spent flowers so the buds on each stem can open.
