Dried flower guide
Dried or preserved?
Dried flowers are air-dried, so they become papery and take on softer, vintage tones. Preserved flowers are treated so they stay soft and closer to their fresh colour. Both last far longer than fresh flowers.
Popular dried flowers
Pampas grass, bunny tails, strawflowers, statice, lavender, baby’s breath and dried eucalyptus are all favourites for their texture and long life.
How to care for dried flowers
- Keep them out of direct sunlight, which fades the colour.
- Keep them dry: no water, and away from steamy bathrooms and kitchens.
- Dust gently with a soft brush or a hairdryer on the cool, low setting.
- Handle them as little as possible, as dried petals are brittle.
- Display them indoors, away from heaters and draughts.
